There is a specific kind of magic that only happens in the wings of a stage. It’s that mix of “What’s the first step?“ and "I can’t wait to start." During our #SQLakeland1 event, we were all reminded of exactly why we fall in love with dance in the first place. Meet Camren, this week’s #SQMomentOfTheWeek, a 10-year-old from Powerhouse Dance Company. This weekend marked a massive milestone: Camren’s very first competition solo ever! Performing her piece, "Rainbow in the Dark," she stepped out into the lights for the first time. Like so many of us before our first big moment, Camren was feeling the nerves, but they were outweighed by the comp excitement. Her favorite part of the whole experience? The chance to perform her heart out for her biggest fan: her mom. We have all stood in those same shoes, heart racing, looking for a friendly face in the audience. And knowing your dance family is there, always makes things better! Seeing Camren shine reminds us to look back and realize how far we’ve come, while celebrating the brave, fresh energy of those just beginning their journey. Congratulations to all dancers taking the StarQuest stage for the first time this season. We can’t wait to watch you grow.
