At StarQuest, we know the stage is a place where stories come to life, so for this week’s #SQMemoryOfTheWeek we are heading back to our #SQDurham2 event to celebrate Holly from Steps On Stage Academy. Last year, just a week before Thanksgiving, Holly underwent major surgery for her Scoliosis. With the ultimate outcome and recovery timeline completely unknown, Holly faced a daunting road ahead. But if there is one thing we know about dancers, it’s that they are profoundly determined. Defying the odds, Holly was back in the studio and dancing just six weeks later! Through her recovery, she realized just how much the surgery positively transformed her life, not only giving her newfound strength in her day-to-day life, but elevating her dancing to new heights.
On the StarQuest stage, Holly shared her journey with the world through a breathtaking solo titled "Running." Her costume was intentionally chosen to proudly display her surgical scar, turning a mark of adversity into a badge of triumph and beauty. Holly also took the stage for a special duet with her best friend, Ella, and in a beautiful twist, Ella had purchased her costume online. When she met up with the seller, she discovered an unbelievable connection: the costume belonged to the seller's daughter, who also had Scoliosis surgery, performed by the exact same doctor who treated Holly! It was totally meant to be! Holly’s bravery, passion, and unstoppable spirit remind us all that no hurdle is too high when you have the determination to chase your dreams.
