At #SQAndover1, best friends Alexis and Sarah (or Lexi and Ruthie as they like to be called) showed us that dance isn’t just about technique or trophies—it’s about the people who lift you up along the way. Competing in their first-ever solos, they took the stage back-to-back in the very first two slots of the day, sharing a mix of excitement, nerves, and endless support for each other. Both dancers love lyrical because it allows them to express emotion, something that comes naturally to them as theatre performers. While Lexi was nervous about opening the competition, she couldn’t wait to finally have a solo of her own. Ruthie, feeling those first-time jitters too, gave it her all—and even placed! Lexi, in true best friend fashion, proudly cheered her on, making sure everyone knew how amazing Ruthie was. What makes their dance journey even more special is their studio’s tight-knit, supportive environment. They love how everyone knows each other, forming friendships that feel like family. This weekend, they were especially excited to perform with the older girls in group numbers, embracing every moment together. Their advice to other dancers speaks volumes about their outlook: Lexi encourages everyone to “just have fun” and let their energy shine, while Ruthie reminds us that dance is about more than winning—it’s about doing your best and enjoying the experience. Lexi and Ruthie reminded us all that dance is more than steps and scores—it’s about friendship, encouragement, and celebrating each other’s victories. Because at the end of the day, the best dances are the ones we share with the people who inspire us the most. Their friendship and shared love for dance is what makes them the perfect #SQMomentOfTheWeek !
